Caring For Your Lighters
Since many of us use our lighters very often, it is important that we take good care of them. Below are some tips you can use to prolong the life of your lighters:
- To clean the exterior casing of your metal lighter, polish it using a light polish and a soft cloth to keep it shining. If you notice the finish beginning to become tarnished, you can use a tarnishing action kit to counteract it.
- If the area around the flame starts to be come blackened by carbon residue, use a small nylon brush to lightly brush the carbon from the area.
- Although most lighters use a very similar gas, be sure to use the gas recommended by the manufacturer. Failing to do so may void any warranty you have on your lighter.
- Like said above about using the recommended gas, be sure you also replace your flint with a type approved by the manufacturer. Using a different flint than your lighter is made for could cause the flint wheel to wear faster or incorrectly.
If you follow the guidelines above, your lighters should stay in top working condition and have a much longer lifespan than lighters that are not properly taken care of.
